  1. 7/15/2011 SUMMER MONTHS BREED IMPERSONATORS
  2. Denver Water and Platte Canyon is issuing a reminder to customers not to allow persons claiming to be water department employees to enter their homes without proper identification.

In the past, persons claiming to be water department employees have gained access to customers’ homes on the pretext of checking for water pressure or water quality, for example. Then, they go through the homes looking for cash or valuables. Some have asked for money from customers.

Denver Water does not conduct random water pressure or quality checks. The utility also wants customers to know that employees do not collect money on site.

All Denver Water employees carry photo-identification cards. Service personnel wear shirts, jackets or caps, and drive vehicles clearly marked with Denver Water’s logo.

Customers who are approached by con artists should call the police and Denver Water Customer Care at 303-893-2444.

Occasionally, a Denver Water employee may come to your door regarding meter reading or other service.

Most, but not all, Denver Water employees who are likely to visit your home will be wearing clothing with a Denver Water logo and will be driving a clearly marked Denver Water vehicle.

When a Denver Water service person arrives at your home or office, even in uniform, however, you should always ask to see his/her Denver Water employee identification card which includes their photo and is signed by the manager. They will be happy to show it to you.

If you have concerns that the individual is NOT a Denver Water employee, don't let them into your house and call Denver Water Customer Care at 303-893-2444 for confirmation.

Customers who are approached by con artists or if you feel your safety is threatened, call 9-1-1 immediately.

Platte Canyon Water and Sanitation District employees also carry photo-identification cards (see sample to the right). Operations personnel wear shirts, jackets or caps, and drive vehicles clearly marked with the Platte Canyon Water and Sanitation District logo.

In addition, Platte Canyon Water and Sanitation District would like its customers to be aware that there are times that Platte Canyon operations employees will be required to access your property, knock on your door, or even enter your residence while conducting routine scheduled maintenance or in the case of an emergency situation (i.e. flooding or sewer back-ups).

The District also would like its customers to be aware that there is NO CHARGE for any service offered by the District.
