  1. 4/15/2010 DISTRICT BOARD ADOPTS RESOLUTION HONORING RETIRING DENVER WATER DEPARTMENT MANAGER HAMLET “CHIPS” BARRY
  2. The Platte Canyon Water and Sanitation District Board of Directors adopted Resolution 2010-3-1 Honoring Hamlet “Chips” Barry at its March 26, 2010 board meeting expressing the Board’s appreciation and gratitude to his 19 years of dedicated exemplary management and leadership of Denver Water.

Mr. Barry was appointed manager of Denver Water, the largest municipal water supplier in the State of Colorado which provides potable water to 1.3 million people in the City of Denver and surrounding suburbs including Platte Canyon Water and Sanitation District in January 1991.

During his tenure as the Manager of Denver Water Mr. Barry sustained and solidified Denver Water’s ongoing commitment to provide a firm, adequate, high quality and reliable supply of water to all Denver Water distributors.

“Chips” has provided focused and committed leadership through many adverse water supply conditions including numerous destructive wild fires in Denver Water watersheds, one of the most severe droughts in Colorado history, and increasingly more restrictive and costly water supply, storage, treatment and delivery requirements and regulations.  He was instrumental in initiating and advancing open, transparent, meaningful and cooperative communications between Denver Water and its distributors.

Mr. Barry consistently advocated a balanced approach toward water development, conservation and reuse and preservation of environmental values while providing for the water needs of present and future customers of Denver Water and Platte Canyon Water and Sanitation District.

The Board of Directors of Platte Canyon Water and Sanitation District wishes Mr. Barry a long and enjoyable retirement.
