  1. 11/25/2005 Xeriscape Landscaping and Irrigation Efficiency Sessions
  2. Platte Canyon is once again pleased to sponsor a series of Xeriscape landscaping and irrigation efficiency sessions to help our customers enjoy a beautiful yard without wasting water or money. The series has grown in popularity as customers respond to water restrictions, hot, dry summer weather, and increasing water rates.

According to Alyssa Quinn, program director, “Customers want to save water and money but still want to enjoy colorful gardens and green grass. Feedback from past seminar participants has been very positive. We have found that the majority of customers attending the seminars have implemented irrigation tips and used plant and landscape design guidance to enhance the appearance and water efficiency of their personal landscape.”

Larry Keeson, one of the Denver Metropolitan Area’s premier experts in efficient irrigation system design and maintenance will again present a seminar titled Keeping Your Grass Green with Less Water. Individuals who attend this seminar will be offered an opportunity to sign up for a personal irrigation system audit conducted by Mr. Keeson. The District will pick up one half of the cost of each audit conducted by Mr. Keeson.

We are also very pleased that David Winger has agreed to conduct the Introduction to Xeriscape session on March 10. Mr. Winger is a recognized expert in water efficient landscape design and has published numerous guides, manuals, and journals, some of which will be available for purchase at the seminar. All participants at the seminar will receive a free copy of Mr. Winger’s Xeriscape Maintenance Journal Volume IV.

The well known Xeriscape gardening author and expert Marilyn Raff completes the seminar series with a presentation on Shrub Roses on April 8. Ms. Raff will describe how you can add vibrant color to your garden without increasing irrigation requirements.

All seminars are conducted at the Platte Canyon District office at 8739 W. Coal Mine Ave.
