  2. In previous news articles, the District has mentioned the importance of calling the Utility Notification Center of Colorado (UNCC) for utility locates before any type of digging or excavation is performed.

    During a routine television inspection of District sewer mains, crews discovered damage to a District sanitary sewer mainline. In the first picture below you can see a cavity in the soil as District crews were excavating the sewer main to make repairs. This cavity was created by a drilling machine, probably obtaining soil samples. The other two pictures reflect the damage caused by drilling without obtaining utility locates.

    It is Colorado law that all who wish to dig must first give utilities up to three business days to locate any facilities (water and sewer lines, gas and electric, communications, and cable) which may be impacted by excavation. This is to protect public and private property from damage and to avoid possible interruptions of service. More importantly it could save lives. So please remember, Call Before You Dig!
